For the past 12 years, an unusual wedding dress design competition has been running strong – Charmin strong, to be exact.
Susan Bain and Laura Gawne started the contest 12 years ago as a way to draw attention to their pocketbook-friendly website, cheap-chic-weddings.com. But when Ripley’s Believe It Or Not joined in as a sponsor six years ago, the two sisters realized they had a bigger event than they ever could have dreamed of.
And Ripley’s brought the big dollars to share with the winners: $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second place, and $2,500 for third place. Not too shabby, right?
Out of 1,501 contest entries, 10 were chosen for the final competition.
Grand Prize winner, Van Tran, had an arsenal of design tools at the ready – with 10 rolls of Charmin toilet paper, a range of glues including both glitter and a hot glue gun, along with the always dependable duct tape.
Talk about innovation at its finest! We salute these creative folks who shared their talents in this amazing contest!
